How long have you lived in Colorado and where are you from originally?

I have lived in CO for 3.5 years. My husband and I grew up in San Diego, CA.

What is your favorite "mom time" of the day?

I work when baby sleeps, so I would have to say weekends when I get to sleep in a little and spend more time with my husband.

What inspires you ?

Other moms.

What do you like most about Stroller Strides?

Getting a good workout in a short amount of time and being able to talk to other moms who are having the same experiences with motherhood.

What is your current or previous career?

I was able to keep my job when we moved from NC and work from home. I do Human Resources and Payroll processing/customer service.

What is your proudest mommy moment so far?

Breast feeding (all of it)... I don't care what anyone says breast feeding is harder than natural labor!

My husband and I have lived in the Springs for a little over 2 years, plus I went to college in Denver. I’m from St. Louis.

What is your favorite "mom time" of the day?

When baby girl goes to sleep for the night and my husband and I get to eat dinner and spend time together.

What inspires you?

My daughter, my husband, and my loved ones inspire me to be a kind and gentle person. This state we call home inspires me to get outside and appreciate the beauty everywhere I go.

What do you like most about Stroller Strides?

The friendships that both my daughter and I have made. It’s a special community where I feel so welcome and comfortable.

What is your current or previous career?

I was a first grade teacher. I can’t wait to teach my daughter how to read and write!

Meet Emily! Emily is our playgroup captain and started with FIT4MOM when she was pregnant and attended FIT4Baby. Now, after having her beautiful baby boy she gets her workout at Stroller Strides.

How long have you lived in Colorado and where are you from originally?

My husband and I moved to Colorado two years ago, but lived in Fort Collins and Pagosa Springs during that time before settling in Colorado Springs last April. Before that, I lived in Michigan, Ohio, Nebraska and Kansas, so basically the whole Midwest!

What is your favorite "mom time" of the day?

I’m working on waking up before my 3-month-old so I can ease into the day a bit. That’s still pretty rare, so I would say when I get out on a run.

What is one of your favorite things about being a part of FIT4MOM?

I’ve already met so many supportive, likeminded moms through FIT4MOM. It’s really a wonderful community.

What is your favorite exercise?

Running is my go-to workout.

What is your current or previous career?

I have a journalism background and continue...

Meet Colorado native Jacilyn. Momma to Izabella and Jase.

How long have you lived in Colorado and where are you from originally?

I have always lived in Colorado. I was born in Salida and moved to Manitou when I was 4.

What is your favorite "mom time" of the day?

First thing in the morning. My kids are happy and its a fresh start from whatever was happening the day before.

What do you like about Stroller Strides?

It is the only place where I can get a great workout without worrying about childcare!

What is your favorite exercise?

Burpees... It's true!! They hurt so good.

What was your previous or current career?

I am kindergarten teacher. Always have been and hopefully always will be. I don't believe there is any better way to get paid!!

What is your proudest mommy moment so far?

Whenever my daughter uses her perfect manners without being prompted.



Meet Madeline, momma to sweet twin boys.

1. How long have you lived in Colorado and where are you from originally?

​We moved to Colorado Springs last February, so we are coming up on a year here. I was born and raised in Newport News, Virginia. I am a beach bum at heart, but the mountains are definitely growing on me!​

2. What is your favorite "mom time" of the day?

The boys' bed time...can I get an Amen?!​

3. What do you like about Stroller Strides?

​I like that I can bring the boys (and keep them with me) while I work out. I am instilling in them a love for fitness​ just by having them there. It has also been a great opportunity to meet and get to know other moms.

4. What is your favorite exercise?

​Anything arms, and I enjoy running outside when it isn't 10 degrees!​

5. What was your previous career?

​I worked in property management after college up until we were ready to start a family. I hope to start my own (small) property...


Well hello again, sorry for the missed entries. That was a combo of out of town family and writer's block.

In effort to fulfill the challenge of fitting in an extra workout (or two), I have been using this video for Yoga.

I like to practice after I put Miles to sleep. I have tried to involve him, and he loves to fold right in half and put his head on the floor (he obtained this level of flexibility from having his stiff fiberglass pirate broken leg for a month). However, my goal is to really focus on how my body feels through each breath and that is difficult while simultaneously entertaining and wrangling a 1 year old. I have always loved the idea of doing yoga but have struggled with focusing on such a slow and mindful process because my brain is usually going a hundred miles an hour with a slew of random thoughts and creative ideas (18-25 Hz to be more accurate...that’s the brain geek in me talking. Changing my eating habits has been the name of the game for me this week. Somehow my healthy food rebellion melted away and it was easier to choose healthier options at home.

Hello everyone! For those of you who do not know me yet, my name is Janet. I am a Colorado Springs native and mother to a 15 month old boy named Miles. I joined Stroller Strides in June of last year and it has been one of, if not the, best things I have done for myself in I don’t know how long (aside from getting married and having Miles, of course :). In high school I was physically active, riding and caring for horses and I walked to and from campus daily in college. Admittedly, I have not been as consistently diligent about physical activity in those interim years before these past 7 months. I am so excited to journal my experience as I love the dialogue that it brings. I love getting to know all of you and sharing/supporting our experiences with one another.

Make Your Resolution Stick!

2015 is underway and if you’re like most you probably made a resolution or two. How are you doing so far? Have you abandoned them, vowing to do better next year or are you still chugging away like the Little Engine that Could? Well good news to those who haven’t kept theirs…you can start over! No one said you couldn’t start over, so how ‘bout it? Try using some of the tips below for better success. For those Little Engines that Could, check out the list below and make sure you’re still on the right track.

  1. Write down your goal(s)

    You are more likely to keep your goals if you’ve written them down. Take a second right now and jot them down! I can’t tell you how many goals I’ve had that I “forgot” to write down, and guess how many I met. None.

  2. Be realistic
